One of my favorite quotes on leadership/decisive action comes from T. Boone Pickens, who first shared this gem in the 1980’s: “Be willing to make decisions. That’s the most important quality in a good leader. Don’t fall victim to what I call the ready-aim-aim-aim-aim syndrome. You must be willing to fire.” (emphasis added).
This quote is especially fitting for those of us who are or who want to one day lead our own organizations. Without decisive action and leadership, early stage ventures have no chance of succeeding. The leader must possess a clear vision for the organization, and when faced with a decision, FIRE!
